Social Enterprise Week is Coming to Cincinnati!

Social enterprises are businesses that tackle social problems, improve communities, people’s life chances, or the environment. They make their money from selling goods and services in the market, but they reinvest their profits back into the business or the local community (www.socialenterprise.org.uk).

Small local companies, like Meals4You®, can be social enterprises. But did you know that large national companies can be social enterprises, too? This list includes, but is not limited to: Tom’s Shoes, Goodwill, Newman’s Own, Ben & Jerry’s and even Girl Scout Cookies!

Did you know there are a number of social enterprises in the Cincinnati area doing amazing things? To learn more, we encourage each of you to attend the Social Enterprise Cincy Summit on September 1st and/or the Social Enterprise Showcase on Fountain Square on September 2nd.

Last year (2014) marked the first annual social enterprise week in Cincinnati and with the positive feedback received, this year promises to be bigger and better!

If you have any questions about social enterprises in general or about the upcoming events, be sure to visit www.secincy.org for details. Don’t forget to check out the ‘Buy Social’ tab for a listing of the amazing social enterprises in the Cincinnati area.

Come out to Fountain Square on September 2nd to visit with your local social enterprises and learn more about helping and supporting the community.
